One full press of a Solano’s syrup pump dispenses 10ml. Solano’s describes it as a consistent 10ml measure, which is two metric teaspoons or half an Australian tablespoon. A 750ml bottle holds about 75 full pumps, a few fewer in practice because a little syrup stays in the bottle and the pump tube.
| Pumps | Syrup | Metric teaspoons | Visual guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 10ml | 2 | |
| 2 | 20ml | 4 (1 Australian tablespoon) | |
| 3 | 30ml | 6 | |
| 4 | 40ml | 8 (2 Australian tablespoons) |
What the pump count means in a cup
| Drink | Pumps | Syrup |
|---|---|---|
| Small, 8oz (about 240ml) | 1 | 10ml |
| Regular, 12oz (about 355ml) | 2 | 20ml |
| Large, 16oz (about 470ml) | 3 | 30ml |
Treat these as a place to start, then taste and adjust.
How to check your own pump
- Prime the pump until every press delivers syrup.
- Press fully to the bottom and let the pump return fully each time. A short press gives less than 10ml.
- Dispense ten presses into a measuring jug.
- Divide the volume by ten to get the average per pump.
Pump sizes vary between brands, so a recipe written in pumps for another brand won’t match. If you mix equipment, write the recipe in millilitres.
