Pump 2 to 3 pumps (20 to 30ml) of syrup into the glass, add a double shot of hot espresso and stir until the syrup dissolves. Then add ice and cold milk. Syrup dissolves in hot coffee, and it sinks and sits at the bottom if you add it to cold.
Iced coffee build by drink
| Iced drink | Syrup | Coffee | Milk or water | Ice |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Iced latte, 16oz | 30ml (3 pumps) | 60ml espresso | 180ml milk | 1 cup |
| Iced long black, 16oz | 20ml (2 pumps) | 60ml espresso | 150ml cold water | 1 cup |
| Cold brew, 12oz | 20ml (2 pumps) | 200ml cold brew | Splash of milk, optional | 1 cup |
How to make an iced latte
- Pump 3 pumps (30ml) of syrup into a 16oz glass.
- Pull a double shot of espresso (about 60ml) onto the syrup.
- Stir until the syrup has dissolved.
- Add a cup of ice.
- Pour 180ml of cold milk over the top.
Why iced coffee needs more syrup
Cold dulls sweetness, and melting ice dilutes the drink. Add half a pump to a pump more than you would use in the same drink hot.
Making cold brew without the sinking
Cold brew is already cold, so the syrup has nothing warm to dissolve in. Stir it for a good 10 seconds, or shake the cold brew and syrup together in a jar before pouring over ice.
Coffee ice cubes
Freeze leftover coffee in an ice tray and use those instead of regular ice. The drink stays strong as the cubes melt.
