Caramel is the one to start with, because it suits lattes, flat whites and iced coffee. After that, Chai, Coconut, Chocolate and Gingerbread cover most of what people order. Most flavours take 2 pumps (20ml) in a 12oz drink.
Coffee syrup flavours and where they work
| Flavour | Best in | Pumps (12oz) | Why it works |
|---|---|---|---|
| Caramel | Lattes, flat whites, iced coffee | 2 | Familiar and sweet, hot or iced |
| Butterscotch | Lattes, hot chocolate | 2 | A little richer than caramel |
| Caramelised Biscuit | Iced lattes, winter lattes | 2 | Dessert style |
| Chocolate | Mochas, hot chocolate | 2 | The base for a mocha |
| Choc Mint | Mochas, hot chocolate | 1 to 2 | A mint mocha without the extra step |
| Coconut | Iced lattes, cold brew | 2 | Light and tropical over ice |
| Chai | Chai lattes, dirty chai | 2 to 3 | Needs more than most flavours |
| Gingerbread | Winter and Christmas lattes | 2 | Spiced and seasonal |
| Bun Spice | Spiced lattes, hot chocolate | 1 to 2 | Warm spice, good in cooler months |
Matching flavour to the season
Coconut and Caramelised Biscuit work best over ice in summer. Chai, Gingerbread and Bun Spice earn their place from autumn to Christmas. Caramel and Chocolate sell all year.
How to test a new flavour
Make a small flat white with 1 pump and taste it. Go to 2 pumps only if the flavour disappears under the milk. Most people find 2 pumps in a 12oz drink is about right, and anything past 3 is too sweet.
